The Foyer’s e2e learners had a day trip to Manchester to go and watch a studio recording of the famous game show Countdown, presented my Jeff Stelling with his co-host Rachel Riley. On the day, the dictionary corner included its regular host Susie Dent with her guest Kim Woodburn, known for her show ‘How Clean Is Your House?’. This particular recording was going to be Countdowns 5000th show which our students were very happy to be part of.
The students went though three gruelling games and came out with a few of the top answers scribbling down their words and mathematics with their provided pens and paper.
The day out to Granada Studios gave the students a real insight into how a studio production happens, whilst also receiving autographs and taking photographs with the presenters. (Pictures can be viewed on the Bradford Foyer Facebook group)
A few comments from the students included: “It was good to see what goes on behind the scenes and what happened during the adverts. It was also very educational.”
“It was a good experience to go watch Countdown, but one game was enough for me”.
